The back porch

...
Finally, our chance to enjoy the back porch and to rest and relax arrived. The first opportunity for us to do this happened to be on Independence day, which was quite appropriate.

Finally, the back porch

...
Warm weather has arrived at this community sitting at 7000 feet. I enjoyed its advent with a few tunes on the iPod out on my back porch on Friday ...

Hillbillies once again

.
Being hillbillies this summer meant tea'n and time-wastin' on the back porch ...

... playin' Scrabble (and lettin' Nan win) ...

(there's a little hillbilly in all of us hehe)

... and of course more tea'n and time-wastin' (yay).

Post-parade play & putting our feet up

Once the parade finished, we headed back to hearth and home for feasting and fun and games.

Hamburgers, hotdogs, special baked beans and delicious potato salad. Yum!

The womenfolk partook of a round or two of Chinese checkers, while the menfolk contented themselves with watching from the back porch.

The cats, W and Mitzy, constantly got our attention.

A weekend remembering the 4th of July

A July 4th sun had poked its head up and was setting the stage for a lazy lovely day. Jay really set the tone for the holiday, java in hand ...
... and DOD too, I would think, though his cuppa is hidden from view here.

MAhjongg!

At the right moment, we strolled up the lane to the main drag to watch one of the heartland's July 4th parades ...

... plunking ourselves down near the end of the parade route on the Chester main street.

I'm heading to Phoenix today for a short day-trip, but once back will continue to put up posts & pics on this terrific little time we enjoyed together for our national holiday in mom's neck of the woods.
